Hickory Backed - Laminated Yew Longbows

Available in two longbow styles:

1) Classic English Style "D" Section Horn Nocked Hickory/Yew Longbow

68", 70", 72", 74" - $595.00

Draw Weights from 25# - 75#

A Classic English Style, "D" limb section longbow, featuring beautifully hand carved full horn nocks and matching inlaid horn arrow plate. Each longbow ships with two hand laid flemish placed bowstrings and fleece bow sock. The combining of these two classic bow woods, hickory and yew results in a very tough longbow, less vulnerable to damage than the self yew longbow. Hand-crafted by Jay St. Charles. These Classic longbows honor the British Longbow Society 5/8 Rule - the cross sectional depth of the limb the limb being no less than 5/8 of the limb width.

2) "Duryee" North American Style Longbow - 68", 70", 72" - $495.00

Draw Weights from 25# - 60#

I am proud to offer the moderate priced Duryee Hickory/Laminated Longbow in the spirit of Kore T. Duryee - to provide a beautiful self-wood longbow at a moderate price for recreational archers. The materials for the Duryee Longbow, lamination strips of hickory and yew, are all carefully produced from rough stock by my own hands. The style of these beautiful "Duryee" longbows mirror the semi-flatted rectangular cross section limb North American style longbows of the late 1930's and 1940's. All feature a high finish, hand formed laced leather grip/leather arrow shelf and natural horn tip overlays. Each bow ships with two hand laid flemish spliced dacron bowstrings and fleece bow sock.

Kore T. Duryee

Kore T. Duryee (Dur-yay) could well be called the "father" of modern day archery around the Puget Sound area of Washington State. Throughout the early 1900's until his passing in 1943, he handcrafted thousands of yew longbows and through his instruction introduced several generations of new archers to the enjoyment of our sport. He was a driving force in the establishment of recreational archery and bowhunting opportunity in our region. We would not have what we have today without his efforts.

The bows he built were intended to be very sturdy, fine shooting, high longevity longbows - designed to provide many years of recreational shooting.
